Position Description:
Lyte Fiber, LLC (“Lyte”) is seeking an accomplished and experienced telecommunications operations leader to fill the role of Director of OSP Operations. Lyte is a private-equity backed fiber broadband start-up with ambitious plans to scale and expand its FTTH, SMB and MDU business lines across multiple regions. The Director of OSP Operations will be joining an experienced team that brings decades of fiber broadband, infrastructure and technology experience with a proven track record of building and growing highly-successful businesses.
The Director of OSP Operations will be responsible for overseeing the planning, construction, maintenance and operations of our fiber optic network infrastructure. These responsibilities will include the successful execution of several fiber construction projects and the ongoing upkeep and fixing required to maintain and deliver reliable high-speed internet, all of this across multiple regions and markets and with overlapping timelines. The position requires strong leadership and management skills to oversee full-time employees and third-party construction partners. The Director will need to build and develop an operations team from scratch, managing both office-based team members and field staff across several regions. This position will also require developing the internal processes and system requirements to support the department, in addition to working closely with other departments to streamline handoffs and ensure seamless communication to meet the organizational goals. This individual should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment committed to ensuring that Lyte provides an exceptional experience to both the communities we work in and the service we provide to a rapidly-growing customer base.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit, hire, train and manage regional teams, including OSP field managers, field supervisors, splicers, locators, construction managers and inspectors.
- Achieve annual construction goals for passings built on time and on budget.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure team members are skilled and knowledgeable to ensure Lyte’s quality standards are met and maintained.
- Ensure all OSP activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and community and company policies.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of network reliability and performance.
- Develop and manage budgets for OSP operations, ensuring costeffective use of resources.
- Allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet project and operational needs.
- Select and approve contractors per market based on price and performance.
- Oversee thirdparty construction crews for performance, safety, quality, cleanup, and repair to ensure the construction activities represent Lyte Fiber in a professional manner and respect the communities we are building to serve.
- Develop weekly construction performance reports per contractor and per market.
- Maintain a construction vendor scorecard and meet quarterly with each construction vendor to review their performance.
- Liaise and serve as an ambassador for Lyte with local government leaders and officials both in preparation for and during construction projects.
- Be proactive and forwardlooking to anticipate construction issues and ensure there is a strong pipeline of construction activity to absorb unforeseen delays without impacting the performance targets.
- Ensure construction units placed and asbuilt documentation is properly collected and provided to OSP engineering for input into the fiber management system.
- Interpret BOM’s and understand architectural and engineering diagrams, prints, drafts, tables, flowcharts, charts, equipment lists, and other visual information and documentation required to build and document the plant.
- Review and fully understand the budget, schedule and requirements of each project.
- Work with the project manager(s) to create and execute project work plans, schedules, and control budgets, as well as identify and acquire resources needed for the project(s).
- Participate and/or provide oversight and approval for decisions on the scope and delivery of the project, including serving as a technical expert in interpreting the specifications of the project.
- Review market agreements, permits and authorization compliance and others, as applicable.
- Assist the project team with periodic meetings and presentations when necessary and act as an escalation point for difficult issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and manage all aspects of the OSP Department, including but not limited to: hiring, coaching, counseling, developing, creating positive teamwork and ensuring a rewarding work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Preferred: BS/BA degree in construction management, electrical engineering or civil engineering or equivalent in a related field.
- 7 or more years of management and in field experience leading OSP construction teams (i.e., Foreman fiber OSP construction, fiber aerial and underground crew member, Construction Management, and Telecommunications)
- Strong knowledge of Telecom engineering, project budget creation and management, project scheduling and tracking, cost reporting, and field office operations
- Strong computer skills, with emphasis using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Project
- Familiarity with a variety of mapping, GIS and CADD drafting programs
- Ability to Work with Google Earth KMZ’s and KML’s
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, parallel projects
- Proven experience in a functional role critical to a company
- Excellent oral & written communication skills
- Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity
- Experience planning and leading strategic initiative
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to perform physical activities such as bending, standing, climbing and walking in construction areas
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
- Will require travel as needed to meet with regional OSP staff, third party construction partners and other related support issues.
- May require working outside regular business hours to address urgent construction issues.
