The OSP Engineering Fiber GIS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining data standards within the Vetro Fiber Map Platform. This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of all geospatial data, supporting optimal fiber network planning, design, and operations. The specialist will also lead the creation of new standards and workflows to enhance data management processes and align with Lyte Fiber’s operating practices. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in geospatial data management with an advanced understanding of OSP fiber network engineering and business processes to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions. This role will require you to work with in-house and third-party network planning and engineering partners to ensure all aspects of projects are properly imported and / or natively built into the Vetro system of record. The candidate will also work with third party back-office applications to integrate and optimize the transfer of data between systems. The candidate must be
detailed oriented and highly organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Vetro Fiber Management
- Design, implement, and maintain geospatial data standards, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all data within the Vetro Fiber Map platform.
- Define and maintain map themes and symbology.
- Ensure the system properly tracks material and labor costs by ensuring Lyte Fiber’s standard bill of materials and bill of labor is accurately represented within the Vetro platform.
- Develop workflows and procedures for data entry, validation, and quality assurance.
- Be the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all aspects of Lyte Fiber’s implementation of Vetro Fiber Map.
- Establish data governance policies to ensure compliance with industry best practices and Lyte Fiber’s organizational goals.
- Document the Vetro standards and business workflows and train the organization on compliance of these standards.
- Successfully import internal and vendor work packages into Vetro.
- Conduct routine audits and quality checks to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
- Implement automated and manual data validation processes to maintain data accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor system performance and data integrity, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Manage the lifecycle of geospatial data, including data creation, updating, and archiving.
- Oversee the integration of external data sources into Vetro Fiber Map, ensuring compatibility with existing datasets.
- Collaborate with engineering, GIS, network planning, field and construction teams to ensure data reflects the current state of the fiber network from planned through as-built.
- Ensure as-built information is properly input into Vetro from construction print red-lines accurately and in a timely manner and uploaded into 811.
- Perform quality control on projects and plans to ensure all requirements are met to adhere to Lyte Fiber’s standards.
- Generate reports and dashboards to track fiber capacity planning reports to measure fiber route miles, fiber strand miles for both consumed and available capacity.
- Prepare and submit additional reports as required.
