What are the responsibilities and job description for the Post-Baccalaureate, Biology position at Lyterian?
At Lyterian Therapeutics, we are committed to developing medicines for patients in need by co-opting physiologically-relevant protein homeostatic mechanisms to regulate genetically-validated targets.
Position Summary:
As a Post-Baccalaureate in Biology you will be responsible for executing primary cellular screens to enable identification of lead molecules for our early drug discovery programs. In addition, you will assist in maintaining cell lines and preparing compound solutions for testing. By collaborating closely with a diverse team of scientists, you will help define the fundamental biology behind chemically modulating protein homeostasis.
We look for team members who are inspired by our mission and want to work in a collaborative, rigorous, and entrepreneurial environment. We seek colleagues who are self-motivated, innovative, proactive, and possess an innate curiosity to discover novel biology and new drugs. Efficient time management, excellent organizational and communication skills, and passion for high-quality, translational science are essential.
We offer:
As a post-baccalaureate (6–12-month appointment), we are seeking individuals looking to take a gap year between undergraduate education and the pursuit of an advanced degree (MS, PhD, MD, etc.). In this position you will gain invaluable experience in how the drug discovery and development process works at a start-up company. The successful candidate will be exposed to internal seminars focused on techniques, projects, and leveraging data for downstream decision-making. In addition, your supervisor will help you coordinate informational interviews with their extended network so that you acquire a more in-depth picture and understanding of requirements for advanced degrees at various institutions.
