M-D is seeking an experienced stand-up forklift operator for our second shift position. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout our production facility. Your expertise with stand-up forklifts is essential as you'll be operating various industrial trucks, including Sit-Down, Side Loader, and Stand-Up models. This position is vital in maintaining workflow efficiency during evening operations and requires someone who can work independently while supporting production needs.
Responsibilities:
- Operate stand-up forklifts and other power-driven industrial trucks to transport materials throughout the production area.
- Receive and follow verbal directions regarding material needs for various departments.
- Perform related material-handling functions in assigned work areas and assist others when needed.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the department.
- Fill in on other jobs of equal or lesser difficulty when not operating the forklift.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and proper servicing to ensure continued operation.
- Report defective operating conditions and make equipment available for repairs.
- Maintain professional interactions with all employees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous stand-up forklift experience is ESSENTIAL
- Forklift certification required
- Ability to read shop paperwork
- Ability to lift, carry, or push materials weighing between 50 and 100 pounds
- Basic math and writing skills for completing production records
- Clear verbal communication skills
- Good motor skills and hand-eye coordination
- Good vision for safe driving and materials inspection
Work Environment:
- 2nd shift hours: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Monday- Friday
- Non-air-conditioned facility with concrete floors
- Hearing protection is required due to noise levels
- PPE requirements include eye protection and safety shoes
