We are seeking a skilled creative seamstress, sewing machine operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the production process, focusing on fabricating Outdoor and Marine Upholstery products, ensuring high-quality construction. This position requires proficiency with sewing machines and a strong understanding of product construction and design techniques. The Operator will work in studio workshop and outdoor environments, collaborating with team members to meet production goals while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Operate industrial sewing machines to fabricate products according to specifications.
Perform Outdoor and Marine Upholstery construction tasks, ensuring precision, accuracy and quality in each piece produced.
Maintain equipment by conducting regular inspections and performing minor repairs as needed.
Collaborate with team members to streamline production processes and enhance efficiency.
Ensure the workspace is organized and adheres to safety protocols at all times.
Assist in inventory management by tracking materials used during production.
Ability to run and operate an industrial sewing machine
Ability to troubleshoot basic sewing machine problems and fix simple issues
Ability to thread machine, replace bobbins, replace needles, etc.
Ability to work with oversized, large items with heavy weight fabrics and materials
Ability to work with hand tools, hardware, dies, knives, pliers, screw drivers and scissors.
Be able to meet daily quotas
Cutting, Sealing and Marking raw patterns
Have the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Reading and Understanding production orders
Follow production schedules and prioritize tasks to meet order deadlines
Adhere to company policies and procedures related to safety, quality control and product specifications
Conduct thorough quality checks at each stage of the product-making process to identify and address defects or imperfections
Ability to plan, layout and supervise the work easily amongst others in the sewing department
Following standardized work instructions and production procedures to maintain consistency and quality in the manufacturing process
Demonstrating proficiency in sewing techniques and craftsmanship principles; continuously improving skills through practice and experience
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workspace to optimize efficiency and safety
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience
Previous experience in outdoor and marine upholstery product construction or related fields is preferred.
Proficiency in operating sewing machines is essential for this role.
Familiarity with design and concept, pattern operations and safety practices is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- 4 years prior production experience with double and single needle machines
- Strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to craftsmanship.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools and machinery.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements and meet production quotas in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
