Job Description:
The Director of School Improvement and Transformation will support the district’s lowest-performing schools by strengthening the instructional capacity of principals and teachers, fostering sustainable academic growth, and driving long-term student success.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
  2. Valid Texas Administrator’s / Principal Certificate;
  3. Minimum of five (5) years of successful principal experience preferred;
  4. Demonstrated leadership ability with strong interpersonal and effective communication skills; and
  5. Extensive knowledge, experience, and successful implementation of a school turnaround model required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 250 days

 

SALARY/ PAYGRADE:.

$96,370 IA-7

Salary Range as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2024 – 2025

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Proven expertise and a track record of successfully implementing a school turnaround model.
  • Proven ability to contribute to and cultivate a high-performance culture within a collaborative environment.
  • Expertise in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), state assessments, and State and Federal school improvement requirements.
  • Strong data literacy skills to analyze and use data to inform instruction and school improvement.
  • Demonstrated application of high-yield instructional strategies and scientifically research-based instruction.
  • Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills to work with principals, leadership teams, and instructional staff.
  • Strong coaching, problem-solving, and conferencing skills.
  • Ability to view oneself as a positive agent of change.

  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Dedicate the majority of time to supporting identified campuses by providing professional development to principals, leadership teams, professional learning communities, and teachers.
  • Facilitate the Monitored Schools Process.
  • Lead data reviews (e.g., district benchmarks, STAAR results) with identified campuses to diagnose barriers to student growth and develop actionable improvement plans.
  • Review and provide input on Campus Improvement Plans (CIPs) to ensure effective implementation of school improvement strategies, measurable goals, and aligned activities.
  • Assist campuses in fostering a culture of learning and student success.
  • Serve on interview committees for leadership positions at identified campuses.
  • Provide follow-up instructional coaching to principals and leadership teams to ensure alignment with district curriculum and standards.
  • Support efforts to enhance community and parental involvement at identified campuses.
  • Actively engage in problem-solving with campus leadership teams to address barriers to success.
  • Assist in aligning instructional and budgetary resources to support school improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum and Instruction Assistant Superintendents to address curriculum, instruction, and data needs for identified campuses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and Accountability.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: Frequent districtwide travel

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
