QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university;
2. Valid Texas teaching certification in secondary education;
3. Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as a secondary reading teacher;
4. Preference given to applicants with experience in secondary reading;
5. Demonstrated:
• Commitment to life-long learning that supports high-quality first-time instruction, including the use of technology;
• Ability to develop and write curriculum;
• Ability to develop and lead professional learning;
• Ability to manage data;
6. Demonstrated skills in leading, motivating and cooperating with other teachers, campus administrators and district personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Campus based support and responsibilities:
1. Consult with campus staff to interpret the TEKS, Scope and Sequence and/or other curriculum documents.
2. Work with individuals, content teams and campus administration to use reading assessment data to develop, implement and monitor an instructional action plan.
3. Provide support to and work collaboratively with the reading leaders on campus (CIC/DC/TL/CCIS) and Campus Administration to facilitate/support effective team planning and implementation of district curriculum.
4. Provide district- and campus-level professional development, including peer coaching, model lessons, and teacher support to implement content TEKS.
5. Facilitate implementation of new instructional strategies and/or instructional materials.
6. Observe, provide feedback, and support teachers to provide a learning environment that supports all learners.
7. Communicate with the Secondary Reading Coordinator and Campus Administration to identify areas of success as well as areas in need of additional support, training, or resources.
8. Assist teachers with technology integration.
District based support and responsibilities:
1. Develop grade-level and content-specific curriculum that aligns with reading TEKS.
2. Work with the content coordinator and/or other coaches to develop staff development sessions that address identified needs.
3. Research effective strategies and best practices for reading instruction.
4. Align and develop instructional resources and curriculum documents for secondary reading courses.
5. Use data to ensure that materials/resources and future staff development initiatives address identified needs.
6. Attend and present professional development sessions as needed beyond contract time and district boundaries.
7. Demonstrates initiative and high standards; works without supervision; works toward self-improvement; continues to grow professionally.
8. Demonstrate the technical knowledge of effective handling of assignment; effectiveness in responsibility; knowledge and understanding of school district policy, practices, and procedures.
9. Assume a leadership role in special projects as they arise.
10. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function for both the campus-based support and responsibilities and the district-based support and responsibilities.
