Overview
University of Minnesota Medical Center is the flagship location for University of Minnesota Health, and is comprised of two hospitals and dozens of adult specialty clinics on both the East and West banks of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.
This location offers the widest range of hospital and clinical services provided through University of Minnesota Health. Complete services range from primary care, emergency care, to care of patients with the most complex conditions. Areas of specialization include solid organ and blood and marrow transplantation, heart disease and cancer.
This position works a .6 FTE (48 hours per 2 week pay period) on the rotating day and evening shifts, 12 hour shifts and every weekend.
Responsibilities/Job Description
The Clinical Office Specialist position consists primarily of handling all coordination and communication at the Operating Room (OR) Control Desk to support the charge nurse in managing the OR schedule. Involves understanding the roles of surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing, pre- and post-op processes, along with the functions of ancillary departments such as pharmacy, environmental services, plant operations, and others. This position will take place in a high stress environment and will be multitasking between extensive phone and computer work.
