Job Description – Neurodiagnostic Technologist

Summary / Objective
Recording of routine EEG’s of a majority of adult patients with a wide range of illnesses.
Work Environment
This job operates in a medical office facility. This role routinely uses standard medical equipment such as required to perform EEG’s along with office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The ability to assist patients providing reassurance and reducing anxiety and fear.
Essential Functions
Measuring and marking using the International 10 / 20 System of EEG measurement. Excellent communication skills and strong bedside manner. Accepts change and adapts in a positive and productive manner; handles unexpected situations / changes in direction with confidence. Views new assignments as an opportunity for growth. Accepts ownership of job roles and specific assignments / goals; works independently, takes responsibility for own actions; and accepts constructive feedback. Must effectively interact with patients, families, physicians and other health team members. Maintains physician confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Navigate the Windows environment, proficiency in software applications (Work, Excel, Google Docs).
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to bend, stand, stoop, lift up to 15 lbs. carry, may require tech to assist patient to chair which is utilized for testing purposes. This position requires Blood Borne Pathogen training, HiPPA and any other mandated OSHA training.
Perform general office duties such as answering telephones. Employee must be physically present to perform essential functions of this position.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Shifts vary, please at interview. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Due to the nature of the work this position is not eligible for tele-commuting.
Travel
This position may require travel to satellite offices.
Required Education and Experience
Electroencephalograph Technologist Registered (Certified)
Minimum associates degree or graduate of accredited ENDT program.
ABRET Certification is required within 2 years of date of hire
Reasonable experience as an EEG Technologist is necessary.
Certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist or equivalent certification
Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the body is necessary.
Electroencephalograph Technologist Non-Registered
High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Basic knowledge of anatomy of physiology of the body is necessary
Eligibility or certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist is necessary.
Upon hire, non-certified EEG Technologists must begin taking courses toward EEG certification and identify a path towards their EEG Registered Technologist credential.
CPR certification
Trained in Nerve Conduction testing or the willingness to be trained to perform Nerve Conduction Studies
