ESSENTIAL DUTIES
his individual works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to provide health care across the continuum of care for assigned patients in a hospital and clinic setting. The NP provides primary health and specialty specific care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. This individual combines nursing care with aspects of medical care, focusing on the patient as a whole person.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
1. Obtain a complete medical history, perform a neurological exam and integrate data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
2. Order medications and interventions in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines.
3. Orders and interprets lab and diagnostic studies.
4. Instructs patient regarding testing, medications and treatments and educates about health and illness prevention.
5. Collaborates with physician in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients and provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits.
6. Posts tests and examination results.
7. Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
8. Participate in research ongoing at MIND
9. Counsels patients in relation to their health needs.
10. Maintains continuing professional education, licensure, and accreditation
11. Contributes to customer satisfaction and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
12. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Training:
- Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies
Work Experience:
- Experienced APP with Neurology experience preferred.
Certification, Licensure, Registration:
- State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required
