What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sheet Metal Technician (Aerospace) position at M&J Fabrication, Inc?
M&J Fabrication is looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Technician to work in our new Aerospace Fabrication area building various parts for the Aerospace industry. This position will utilize brand new state-of-the-art equipment in a controlled environment.
OVERVIEW:
Process products using equipment such as: CNC laser/Punch, waterjet, CNC press brake, Time Savers, and other equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Punch/Laser Operation including programing, nesting, material procurement and loading
- Press Brake Operation including programing bend parameters and machine setup
- Read and interpreting blueprints, sketches, written instructions, changes, specifications, work orders, etc. to fabricate and assemble to quality requirements parts and assemblies
- Find novel ways to produce complex sheet metal assemblies
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Maintain an organized material area
- Providing our customers with clean, deburred and complete parts
- Propose design recommendations to engineering teams to make faster, simpler parts
- Use precision measuring instruments required to accomplish work assignments
- Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g., where applicable, replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels, etc. as related to basic total preventative maintenance duties).
- Comply fully with all safety procedures
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 4 years of experience with press brake operations on complex parts of various material types
- 4 years of professional experience running a CNC Punch, Punch/Laser, or a Laser cutter producing components for the Aerospace industry
- Ability to read blueprints and complete basic shop math
- Knowledge of sheet metal k factors and its application
- Ability to hold close tolerances on sheet metal parts per engineering drawings
- Understanding of GD&T
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted
