Asphalt Plant Operator

The Asphalt Plant Operator/Heavy Equipment Operator is part of a team responsible for the safe daily operations of a high-volume asphalt manufacturing plant. We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 2 years of verifiable knowledge of asphalt plants and experience operating a loader. Prior experience working with asphalt and at asphalt plants, including general laborer duties, is preferred.

Job Description – Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Operate and monitor asphalt manufacturing equipment using buttons, levers, gauges and electronic equipment according to quality and safety standards.

· Promote site safety, encourage safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards immediately.

· Perform observations, equipment inspections, and ensure proper care of plant and equipment.

· Assist with repairs and maintenance of plant and equipment.

· Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

· Shut down and restart plant or equipment in emergency situations or for maintenance, repairs, or replacements.

· Communicate with drivers to direct them to the appropriate load areas and safely load materials.

· Complete all required paperwork for the plant, including daily and weekly production reports and plant logs.

· Keep plant lubed

· Maintain oil levels of plant

· Safely operate heavy equipment as needed.

Job Requirements:

· Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crews can operate at normal efficiency level.

· Attitude/Cooperation, must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and public.

· Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes. Overtime work may be required, including nights and weekends.

Work Environment:

• Physical ability to work under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time. Normal shift is 8-10 hours.
• May be exposed to extremes of hot or cold weather.
• Weekend work and night shift work may be required.

· Job requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.

Safety:

• Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition. Personal Protective Gear Provided, with exception to work boots.

Compensation and Benefits:
