Parts Associate Job Description: Daily tasks, Roles, Duties and Responsibilities
The role of the Parts Associate is to operate and run a profitable parts department while providing world class service to our Customers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
The following are principal duties of the Parts Associate. They include but are not limited to the following:
- Represent M&R Power Equipment in a positive and professional manner
- Work with all personnel and outside contacts to satisfy clients and achieve company goals
- Identify areas of improvement in the company and assist in creating and implementing solutions
- Keep up to date on market trends and new products
- Identify and investigate growth opportunities for the company with our customers
- Provide constructive feedback to department employees
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Parts Associate is responsible for ensuring that:
- Promotes and sells products and/or services to meet customer needs
- Supplies Service Technicians with parts as required
- Assists with preparing and maintaining merchandise displays
- Verifies receipting-in of shipments and assists with placing inventory in their proper locations
- Assists in keeping the parts department clean and orderly
- Follows up on shortages and expedites issues by reporting to the Store Manager
- Assists in maintaining all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order
- Manage, train, mentor and evaluate our parts team, including on Saturdays
- Develop and deploy plans to increase sales group performance
- Work with Sales representatives to bring in new business.
- Deliver a written department plan as requested. Include a request for any support resources, including any marketing support.
- Be prepared to provide detail reports to the President and Management Team on a Weekly/Monthly basis. (Revenue Forecast and Activity; both personal targets and parts team performance).
- Maintains supplier relationships by identifying best source; examining products; communicating and enforcing requirements.
- Obtains parts and supplies by inventorying items; preparing and placing purchase orders; receiving, inspecting, and storing items.
- Maintains inventory by designing storeroom layout; establishing re-order points; completing annual inventory.
- Maintains product information by reading technical manuals and bulletins; providing information to drivers and mechanics.
- Keeps inventory database up-to-date by inputting receipts and usage.

- Use professional business judgment and be prepared to define plans, justify actions, and identify options as appropriate to the Parts Manager
- Deploy and maintain effective programs for parts sales
- Adhere to a proper business work ethic and create a similar expectation of your reports/peers
AUTHORITIES:
The following are principal authorities granted to the Parts Associate:
- Exercise the responsibilities and perform the duties of this position. This includes full decision making authority for all responsibilities and duties
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Parts Manager reports to the Store Manager
The following positions report directly to the Parts Manager: Others as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Motivated and self-directed sales professional that can operate within proper guidelines
- Exceptional communication skills, presentation, negotiation and management skills, strong business work ethic, positive attitude and professional demeanor required
- MS Office skills
- Must demonstrate competence in management
- Proven people skills with effective experience in training, managing, mentoring and evaluating direct reports as assigned.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
The following will be used to evaluate the performance of the Parts Associate:
- Regularly meets performance targets
- Regularly meets or exceeds sales quotas, both personal and team
- On time performance, work ethic and quality of Team and Personal Development Plans
- Provides accurate forecasts, updates and requested reports to the Store Manager
- Ability to lead by example and manage/mentor reports and peers
- Management Objectives may be assigned to further measure and reward top performance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
