M SEARCH is thrilled to partner with an organization in the Broward County area on a confidential Controller search.


Job Summary: Responsible for performing a variety of accounting activities, including the preparation of financial statements, management of accounts payable and receivable, and the establishment of financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. This role also oversees payroll processing and human resource administration for the organization.

  • Collaborates with leadership to provide accurate, timely, and actionable information to guide priority setting and business strategy.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, and recommending plans.
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides status updates on financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data in monthly financial statements.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition through audits and by providing information to external accounting firms.
  • Manages accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Ensures sales tax compliance.
  • Monitors inventory transactions through the general ledger and prepares monthly reports for review and adjustments.
  • Prepares bi-weekly payroll processing and serves as the key human resource administrator within the organization.
  • Reconciles monthly bank and intercompany transactions.
  • Prepares cash flow analyses and forecasts.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent; or four to ten years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business, professional, technical, or governmental documents. Capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively presents information and responds to questions from managers, customers, and the public.
  • Proactive problem solver, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Able to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and address abstract and concrete variables.
  • Advanced proficiency in business applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Expert-level Excel skills are required (e.g., pivot tables) for weekly reporting. Experience with SAGE 100 ERP is preferred.


Supervisory Responsibilities: This is a managerial position. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
