M. Shanken Communications, Inc. is the home of Wine Spectator, Cigar Aficionado, and Whisky Advocate Magazines. In addition to publishing lifestyle magazines, websites and apps, we host a beloved series of consumer and trade events throughout the country each year including: New York Wine Experience, Big Smoke Las Vegas, WhiskyFest, Wine Spectator's Grand Tour and more. These events draw thousands of attendees every year.
M. Shanken Communications is seeking a detail-oriented, self-starting, and dynamic Event Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate has an interest in event management, is a team player who enjoys collaborating with others and tackles challenges with confidence and creativity.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with attendee ticketing and registration in preparation for the events and on-site. Including building out and managing ticket platforms.
- Assist with administrative tasks to help manage events from beginning to end, including vendor data collection and management, contract management, event material creation and editing.
- Aid in creating and maintaining event marketing campaigns (email promotions, social media images, promotional videos and print advertisements)
- Assist with event attendee customer service
- Assist with management and maintenance of event websites
- Day of event logistics assistance, including but not limited to load-in, set-up, registration, and vendor management.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, social science or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in hospitality, event operations, event planning, marketing, public relations or relevant experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Poised, professional, and enjoys collaborating with a team.
- Detail-oriented and strong time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs for event set-up
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, Excel, Powerpoint
- Interest in hospitality, wine, spirits and food a plus
- Familiarity with Wix websites and/or an event ticketing programs (CVENT, Tixr etc.) a plus
Compensation and Benefit Details:
Salary Range: $50,000-$65,000 annually and may vary depending on the candidate’s experience.
Location: Office in New York, NY — 4 days in-office with remote work option on Fridays. Candidates must have ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed for events including 5-6 weekends per year.
