Overview:
The purpose of May Bakery & Cafe is to provide class service to all guests. The barista will be accountable for the success of the front of house operations. Exhibit drink making talent by personally performing tasks for all drink related functions. Work to continually improve guest satisfaction while maintaining within the operating budget. Must ensure sanitation and food standards are achieved.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a wide range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks.
- Take customer orders and provide recommendations based on their preferences.
- Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including restocking supplies as needed.
- Ensure that all beverage products meet quality standards.
- Follow health and safety guidelines when handling beverages.
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering their questions, and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Experience (all preferred but not required):
- Previous experience as a barista or in a similar role.
- Ability to create latte art and specialty coffee.
- Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems, or Toast.
- Strong retail math skills for cash handling and transactions.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- A friendly and approachable demeanor to create a positive customer experience.
- Basic knowledge of food handling and safety regulations.
- Experience in food services or sales.
Wage and Scheduling:
- $12-18/hour tips
- Part time or Full time
- Early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
