Overview:
The purpose of May Bakery & Cafe is to provide class service to all guests. The cook will be accountable for the success of the daily kitchen operations. Exhibit culinary talent by personally performing tasks for all food related functions. Work to continually improve guest satisfaction while maintaining within the operating budget. Must ensure sanitation and food standards are achieved.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in storing all deliveries, follow and ensure compliance with food safety and handling policies and procedures, such as: product rotation, First In-First Out (FIFO); dating, labeling, cleaning, and organizing coolers/freezers/storage areas; and cold chain compliance, across all food-related departments and areas.
- Prepare all potentially hazardous foods at the correct temperature according to the HACCP guidelines. Informs the manager immediately of food quality issues – food spoilage.
- Follow appropriate personal hygiene procedures to ensure food served to guests is safe for consumption, including disinfecting hands prior to handling food and wearing a hat/hairnet and proper footwear.
- Expedite all menu items accurately and promptly.
- Set up the cooking / prep line.
- Assists in any area needed when time allows.
- Inform the manager immediately of safety issues – equipment failure.
- Exhibit great attitude and cooperation.
Experience:
- 1 years of experience as a line cook or similar role in a restaurant.
- Strong understanding of cooking techniques, ingredients, and food safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent knife skills and ability to multitask.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Passion for food and commitment to excellence.
Wage and Scheduling:
- $14-20 /hour tips
- Part time or Full time
- Mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 18 – 40 per week
