Job Summary
Obtains cardboard packaging, forms boxes, prints labels, packs finished material into boxes, and seals entire unit when finished. Follows all documented and accepted Iconex and departmental safety guidelines.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodations.
Forms and tapes boxes
Packs finished material into boxes and tapes boxes
Reworks material returned by the customer that is packaged or labeled incorrectly
Detects any errors made by slitter operators and corrects them
Completes special projects as directed by supervisor
Monitor quality of material and notifies operator of any quality problems
Forms cartons and print case labels which may include special customer stock numbers, purchase order numbers and any other special information
Labels cartons in correct position
Packs rolls into bags and/or proper cartons
Maintains good housekeeping in work area
Follow all documented and accepted company, plant and department policies and procedures with special attention to safety guidelines and practices
Participates in safety training
Reports any and all uncontrolled hazards, injuries, and near misses to shift supervisor
Suggests and participates in safety improvements such as job safety analyses, audits, inspections, and safety committee
Collect and record production data
Performs other duties as assigned
Other (Non-Essential) Functions
Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of a “Reasonable Accommodation” under the ADA.
Contributes to a team effort by proactively assisting internal contacts.
Attend training programs to develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills.
All other duties assigned by immediate supervisor on an as needed basis.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Basic computer and math skills
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Manufacturing experience preferred
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Ability to read scale within 1/64
Ability to enter data legibly and accurately
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to read and understand work orders and ask questions
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and all levels of management
Ability to work as a team with others to meet business requirements
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
Regular exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals more than 50% of the work time.
Some overnight travel by various modes of transportation including airline, train, and automobile as deemed appropriate
Continuous contact with other people requiring communications via face-to-face, orally by telephone and various written methodologies
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time
Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
