What are the responsibilities and job description for the Classroom Teacher position at Maaps?
This position is eligible for a $2500 Sign-On Bonus.
St. Ann’s Home & School, in Methuen, MA, is a leader in special education and residential programming, offering private day programs, child and adolescent residential services, along with a broad range of outpatient services.
We are currently seeking classroom teachers for our 2024-2025 school year in our education program. Classroom teachers must possess a valid Massachusetts license as a Teacher of Moderate Special Needs or Teacher of Students with Special Needs.
Classroom teachers job duties include:
Direct instruction and formulate academic and behavioral objectives for students.
Design and implement individualized programs for the emotionally disturbed, learning disabled, and behaviorally disordered students in their classrooms.
Prepare written academic summaries, and attend and present reports at case conferences and annual student evaluation meetings.
Collaborate with public school personnel regarding the formulation of educational plans and the reintegration of students into the public schools.
Meet regularly with therapists to review the progress of students in all areas.
Participate in a regular program of in-service training.
Supervise teacher assistants.
Classroom teachers should be able to sit for long periods of time, drive a motor vehicle, write extensively, talk for long periods of time, and be able to communicate with other agency personnel, LEA representatives, families and the children. Classroom teachers should be able to react quickly, lift and carry up to 20 pounds, climb stairs and be able to physically restrain youth in an emergency to ensure everyone’s safety is maintained. Staff are trained in current best practice techniques to safely respond to occasional aggressive, self-injurious or unsafe behaviors.
The mission of St. Ann’s Home & School is to provide a continuum of assessment, treatment, educational, and community-based services for children, adolescents, and young adults who present with a variety of mental health, emotional, and educational challenges.
