RQ08167 - Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Junior

Responsibilities:

• Provides advice on the testing strategy, test plans, the selection of testing tools, and the identification of resources required for testing
  
• Plans and organizes testing efforts for large systems in Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) environments, including the execution of systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (e.g., stress tests)
  
• The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the development of test plans, test scripts and test cases and executing these against the various components. The tester will work with the testing lead and IT lead of each project as well as the project team members in the analysis, design, development, implementation and ongoing support of the required systems
  

General Skills:

• Experience in planning, organizing and implementing testing efforts at the specified experience level
  
• Knowledge of structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications
  
• Knowledge and experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and data query tools to aid in the development of test cases

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards

Required Knowledge / Skills:

Key deliverables to be performed by the Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Junior include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Implement the automation of new and existing testing scripts using Quick Test Pro v10.0;
  
• Perform functional, regression and performance testing based on the test scripts developed;
  
• Plan, create and implement test data beds for testing;
  
• Prepare, support, and participate in System Integration Testing (SIT), System Acceptance Testing (SAT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT),
  
• Test Business Intelligence solutions, including database, data warehouse, presentation layer, and reports, and
  
• Perform knowledge transfer to the Ministry staff.
  

Other Experience and Skills:

The Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Junior must have the following skills and experience:

• Demonstrated analytical problem solving and decision making capabilities;
  
• Demonstrated experience with Test Automation tool in particular Quick Test pro v10.0, HPQC/HPALM and TFS together to document, track, and record testing processes;
  
• Extensive experience in writing test scripts, test cases and test scenarios, testing web applications and reporting defects;
  
• Proficiency with desktop tools (Visio, MS Office, MS Project, MS Outlook);
  
• Strong technical skills in SQL, Databases, and XML;
  
• Demonstrated working experience in dealing with multiple teams representing various areas in delivering the project;
  
• Demonstrated understanding of AODA
  
• Demonstrated working experience testing for WCAB compliance in web applications, experience using screen reader (JAWS) for testing and Hi Software Compliance Sheriff Tool.
  
• Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with client organizations;

Knowledge Transfer:

• Transfer From Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Junior to Designated CSC Resource
  

When Knowledge Will Be Transferred:

• Knowledge transfer must be completed one week prior to the end of the project or one week prior to the consultant leaving the ministry.
  

What Knowledge Will Be Transferred:

• All deliverables, including design/supporting/release/training documents must be checked into designated version control repositories (for example, SharePoint). All final documents and working drafts related to project requirements or solution design must be stored on designated project repositories (for example, SharePoint site, Azure DevOps, GIT, etc.)
  
• Project manager and designated ministry staff must be regularly informed in writing (by email) of where documentation has been stored and must be provided a minimum of one walk-through of all documentation as part of the final knowledge transfer activities.
  

How Knowledge Will Be Transferred:

• Knowledge will be transferred through 1 on 1 sessions, emails, document updates and document review with the team.
  

MUST HAVES:

• Proficiency in automation tools like Selenium and Playwright to create and run automated test scripts.
  
• Knowledge of writing and troubleshooting test scripts, and familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript for testing Angular applications.
  
• Proficiency in Azure DevOps for managing test cases and tracking defects.
  
• Experience testing for WCAG compliance in web applications, experience using automated test tools such as AXE and screen readers (NVDA, Narrator) for testing.
