Therapeutic Community Counselor
Seeking creative, engaged, mission driven, experienced and motivated individuals to provide support for three young adults living in a new and innovative, community-based residential program. This program offers a therapeutic setting for young adults to develop the skills they need to successfully live in the community including skills for independent living, self-management, interdependence and self-determination. This program is a transition program that provides short-term support (3-5 years) for skill development and a scaffolded transition to their next steps.
The Therapeutic Community Counselor provides direct support to the young adult residents throughout their day with an emphasis on building and maintaining therapeutic rapport, supporting safety and scaffolding skill development. This is a collaborative, team-oriented position that includes opportunities to work closely with other counselors, a social worker, occupational therapist and LPN. The Therapeutic Community Counselor also builds and maintains supportive relationships with community stakeholders and families.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Committed to working with neurodivergent young adults with complex mental health profiles.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills that foster healthy relationships with participants, team members, families and external stakeholders.
· Team player who can give and receive productive feedback, use creative problem-solving strategies, and motivate participants.
· Bachelor’s Degree and/or 2 years of residential experience required.
· Comfort with computers and ability to learn reporting software.
· Valid MA driver’s license and ability to drive program vehicles to transport participants to appointments, programs, recreational activities, etc. Must be able to drive for extended periods of time and on highways as needed.
· Frequent walking, standing, and driving. Must be able to maintain a high level of energy. Must be able to lift and/or carry lightweight and moderately heavy objects.
· Full-time position, variable schedule

Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or related field
- Previous experience preferred, but not required
- Some holiday shifts required
- A valid driver’s license
- A background check, drug and alcohol test will be performed prior to start
- CPR and First Aid required, offered upon hire
