Job Description:
We are seeking a Therapeutic Community Supervisor to join our team. Therapeutic Community Supervisors are leaders within a therapeutic milieu, creative, flexible, and excited by our “whatever it takes” approach to the work. You will work closely with our residential treatment team to provide supportive learning and leisure opportunities to our neurodiverse students. The position involves supporting students in activities of daily living, engaging individuals and groups in leisure activities and community involvement and implementing our therapeutic frameworks. At the core, it involves driving outcomes and supporting young people in developing the skills and tools they need to transition into their adult lives. This position also requires the ability to take initiative and a desire to lead and provide feedback to team members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise therapeutic community counselors in ensuring the safety and smooth 24-hour operation of the residential program.
- Assist the program manager in overseeing departmental tasks and goals as well as overall facility operations.
- Serve as lead manager in the absence of more senior managers.
- Provide wrap-around overtime coverage as needed.
- Perform crisis intervention when required.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic learning environment and provide individualized support to students based on learning and treatment needs.
- Support students with daily stressors using therapeutic frameworks supported by Ivy Street, including CPI, PBIS, and the ARC Framework of Trauma-Informed Care, and demonstrate mastery of these treatment models.
- Engage with students throughout all daily activities and lessons, and support them in accessing residential programming—make learning fun and joyful. Help build and strengthen students’ relationships with skill building and academic success.
- Provide one-on-one support to students to support their engagement in ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) activities and opportunities in the community.
- Knowledgeable of residential students’ treatment goals and crisis plans.
- Complete program communication and documentation requirements, including daily student progress summaries, incident reports, etc.
- Lead off-campus school trips to enhance skills in the community.
- Develop positive relationships with families and communicate effectively.
- Participate in crisis intervention as needed.
- Support students in building afternoon and evening routines and increasing their independence.
- Plan and implement scheduled programming during each shift to provide structure and learning opportunities for students.
- Instruct activities of daily living in the residence and in the community.
- Maintain a therapeutic residential environment by ensuring the highest standards of health and safety and implementing school-wide therapeutic frameworks.
- Work closely with the residential team to provide milieu support and engage students in enrichment- and learning-based activities.

Responsibilities Unique to Therapeutic Community Supervisor:
- Expected to lead the residential shifts.
- Ensure all daily documentation is completed by the residential team to the highest standards of quality.
- Demonstrate strong understanding and mastery of appropriate student/staff relationships & professional boundaries.
- Provide bi-weekly supervision to residential counselors.
- Actively participate in weekly supervisor meetings.
- Lead crisis interventions as needed.
- Lead community-based trips.
- Demonstrate strong group management skills.
- Actively participate/bring agenda to weekly Residential Department Team meetings.
- Provide all residential team members with feedback related to meeting expected job duties on a day-to-day basis.
Qualification and Certifications:
- H.S. diploma/GED required. B.A. or B.S. in Special Education, Social Work, Education, Psychology, or related field preferred.
- At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
- A valid driver’s license.
- CPR and First Aid required (offered upon hire).
- A background check, drug, and alcohol test will be performed prior to start.
