Mabbett & Associates, Inc, is an award-winning leading provider of environmental, health and safety consulting, and engineering services to federal, state and local agencies, and private commercial, institutional and industrial clients nationally. We are seeking a full-time Project Manager to serve as part of the Building Sciences group. The Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of projects involving industrial hygiene assessments, asbestos and lead-based paint inspections, indoor air quality investigations, and other related environmental consulting services. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and project management skills to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Plan, execute, and oversee projects from initiation to completion, ensuring scope, budget, and timeline adherence.
Develop detailed project plans, resource allocation strategies, and risk management approaches.Monitor project progress, prepare status reports, and communicate updates to stakeholders.Supervise and mentor junior staff and field technicians, providing guidance on technical and professional development.Technical Oversight & Field Work :Provide technical guidance and quality assurance for industrial hygiene and regulated building material projects.
Report preparation, abatement designs, and abatement closure documents and ensure quality of deliverables prepared by others.Perform fieldwork, including inspection and abatement monitoring services.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, HUD, and state-specific requirements).Collect samples including asbestos, lead, industrial hygiene, and environmental samples for analysis; prepare associated paperwork and delivers samples for analysis, drafts and prepare standard report on analysis findings.Analyze Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) air samples in the field.Client Engagement :Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and addressing inquiries promptly.
Develop proposals, scope of work, and cost estimates for new and existing clients.Business Development :Identify opportunities for growth within the industrial hygiene and regulated building materials sector.
Support marketing efforts, including participation in conferences, preparation of promotional materials, and client outreach.Collaborate with senior management to develop strategies for expanding service offerings and market presence.Health and Safety :Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company health and safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Develop and implement health and safety plans specific to project sites.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a science related field.7 years of experience in the industrial hygiene and / or regulated building material field, including asbestos building inspections, abatement oversight and indoor air quality investigations.Project management experience within an Environmental Consulting Services company.Licensed as an asbestos project monitor, asbestos building inspector or project designer.CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) a plus but not required.Completion of NIOSH-582 Course strongly preferred.U.S. Citizen and must be able to obtain, as a minimum, OMB Position of Public Trust and Federal Protective Services Favorable designations. Other clearance requirements for access to Federal facilities may be necessary and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.Experience with lead paint sampling and inspection.Up to 50% travel may be required.Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and insurance.Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Ability to travel in the field and work outside.Ability to wear a respirator.Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds such as sampling equipment and ladders.Will generally work normal workdays, but unusual work shifts including nights and weekends may be required.Location
This position can be based out of the firm's Corporate Headquarters located in Stoneham, MA, or our Alexandria, VA office. The position may involve specific project work opportunities on a short-term basis throughout the United States.
