Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett®), is an award-winning and leading provider of environmental, health and safety consulting, and engineering services to federal, state and local agencies, and private commercial, institutional and industrial clients nationally. We are seeking a full-time Section Lead/Senior Project Manager to join our Site Assessment and Restoration (SAR) Group. The candidate selected for this position will be a well-rounded and credentialed environmental professional (i.e., Geologist, Environmental Engineer, or Environmental Scientist). This role will focus on assignments being addressed under the provisions of the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) and will manage projects, lead technical teams, and provide business development support.
Responsible for managing our Massachusetts-based Site Assessment & Restoration (SAR) team servicing the commercial, industrial, private, and federal sectors nationwide, the candidate selected for this position will work with a wide variety of clients, from local manufacturers to complex high-visibility Brownfield redevelopment projects and Federal HTRW projects working under provisions of CERCLA and RCRA.
Responsibilities
This is a senior-level position responsible for technical management and project delivery, supervision and mentoring of staff, client development and relationship maintenance. The Firm’s Project Managers play a significant role in client relationships and are expected to take an active role representing Mabbett in regional and national professional communities.
Must have demonstrated experience in all aspects of site characterization, monitoring, remediation projects, project close and reporting across all environmental media, as well as management of subcontractors, to include development of subcontractor agreements, monthly invoice and status report preparation, and client follow-up.
As Section Lead, additional responsibilities include team leadership, mentorship and training of junior staff, supporting staff credentialling, and working through challenges with the support of the Group Director and Mabbett leadership. This position will report directly to the Group Director of Site Assessment and Restoration, and will work with Mabbett’s senior management to support and determine team strategy, annual goals, and resource planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or Environmental Engineering
- 10 years of experience in site assessment and restoration working under the provisions of the MCP, other state regulatory programs, CERCLA and RCRA with experience managing HTRW-type Federal projects
- Professional Geologist (PG), Professional Engineer (PE), and/or Licensed Site Professional (LSP) credential
- Experience managing and mentoring technical staff
- Excellent technical writing skills with demonstrated experience preparing site investigation reports, feasibility studies, cost estimates, remediation system designs, bidding documents and specifications
- Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational and personal communication skills; ability to successfully interact with clients, staff and peers clearly and directly
- Must possess or be able to obtain, as a minimum, OMB Position of Public Trust and Federal Protective Services Favorable designations (pass a federal background check). Other clearance requirements for access to federal facilities may be necessary and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, as well as a pre-employment physical and drug screen, to include cannabis
- Ability to travel as needed to support projects to provide technical leadership and represent Mabbett to clients and industry partners.
