Job Summary:
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technicians to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting with various ophthalmic procedures. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to the overall success of our practice.
Duties:
- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including taking patient history and documenting chief complaints
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and automated lensometry
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the ophthalmologist
- Assist with minor surgical procedures, including preparing the surgical area and sterilizing instruments
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment and instruments
- Assist with front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and collecting payments
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing their questions and concerns
Requirements:
- No previous education requirements.
- Previous experience working in a medical office or ophthalmology setting desirable
- Willingness to learn to use electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
No prior experience is needed, but a background in the medical industry is recommended. On the job training will be provided as needed.
