Job Title/Position: REFERRAL/INTAKE COORDINATOR
Reports To: Operations Manager
Job Description Summary: Responsible for managing all aspects of the patient intake process, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers and referral sources, responding to customer requests and concerns, and managing the insurance verification and authorization processes.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities Reviews referrals from physicians and discharge planners for eligibility and appropriateness of home medical equipment. Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and Joint Commission referral/intake regulatory requirements. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with current and potential referral sources. Ensures maximum third party reimbursement through direct oversight of insurance verification and authorization processes.

Position Qualifications Possesses above-average organizational skills and able to process referrals with a sense of urgency. Demonstrates above-average customer service skills. Knowledgeable of Medicare guidelines and medical terminology. Demonstrates excellent communications skills both written and oral. Must possess above-average computer skills, the ability to type a minimum of 45 w.p.m. accurately, and have a working knowledge of standard office equipment. Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing multiple job responsibilities. Must be able to function effectively in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions. Must be able to function effectively under pressure.
