Job Functions :

  • Work independently and assume responsibility for a wide variety of tasks related to the

development and rehabilitation of affordable housing projects.

  • Seek new opportunities for affordable housing projects to ensure a continued strong pipeline
  • of developments in alignment with MCHA / CCHC’s goals.

  • Enhance and maintain thorough knowledge of typical documents associated with real estate
  • development project phases and funding applications to understand the context of the

    documents and key partners, anticipate next steps and coordinate team progress toward

    efficient completion.

  • Foster and maintain professional partnerships with local governments and other housing
  • and social service agencies throughout our service area.

  • Collaborate closely with Asset Management, Resident Services and Finance to improve
  • systems and processes to help ensure a healthy housing portfolio.

  • Spearhead the submittal of funding applications and craft proposals to secure essential
  • financial resources for project initiatives.

  • Research, compile, and analyze data and information for third party requests for
  • development reports such as market studies, environmental studies, appraisals, and

    applications for energy efficiency resources.

  • Assist with any ongoing capital needs projections, cash flow analysis, or other relevant
  • projects.

  • Maintain current knowledge of issues impacting affordable housing development and
  • contribute to engagement in policy issues.

  • Participate as an active member of the MCHA management team to provide organizational
  • leadership related to organization-wide planning, budgeting and decision-making.

  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
  • Skills and Competencies :

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all phases of real estate development through completion of
  • one or more of the following : multifamily rental, single family subdivisions, and mixed use

    development.

  • Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with development teams that include other
  • MCHA / CCHC employees, consultants, architects, engineers, builders, public and private

    sources of financing, and local and state government officials.

  • Knowledge of typical construction costs and operating expenses for multifamily rental
  • properties, single-family development, and / or commercial facilities.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of project and risk management.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by phone / text, and by email with a
  • variety of partners.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, Zoom and other critical office technology.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to comprehend and efficiently manage complex
  • processes and documents such as engineering plans, legal, architectural drawings, codes,

    surveys, appraisals, and more.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate clearly,
  • convincingly, and diplomatically with staff, project partners, and community members.

    Education and Experience :

  • Five years of work experience in development of multifamily affordable housing, including
  • new construction and rehabilitation;
  • Experience with common funding sources of affordable housing, including HUD, LIHTC,
  • LIFT, HOME, USDA Rural Development, CDBG, Housing Trust Fund, or

  • A combination of bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Business
  • Management and three years of related work experience.
