Position at MacAllister Machinery

Position Summary

This position performs welding operations for the shop. The position is also responsible for housekeeping (5S) and properly maintaining company issued tools and equipment while following strict safety procedures.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Follows safety protocols; using proper PPE as required
• Drives machines to be repaired into and out of shop area
• Inspects damaged or worn areas of machine to determine necessary repairs
• Prepares machine for welding including set up
• Reads CAT prints to perform repairs to specification
• Welds machines/shop equipment with gas, arc, MIG and TIG welders as needed. Uses cutting torches and plasma cutter as needed
• Requests welding supplies to be ordered
• Completes all required reporting for service time in an accurate and efficiently; this includes writing service reports, properly allocating time to each job, and tracking parts charged and parts returned
• Maintains customer satisfaction by understanding customer needs and deadlines, attempting to complete scheduled repairs and service as safely, timely and accurately as possible
• Maintains company issued equipment and tools, keeping them in good working order

• No formal responsibility for supervising others
  
  

Position Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-3 years welding experience
  
  

Preferred

• Line boring experience

• Strong knowledge of welding methods including, gas, arc, MIG & TIG
• Ability to learn or perform line boring
• Ability to operate cutting torches and plasma cutter
• Good communication skills, including verbal, written and listening skills
• Strong understanding of work area metrics, takes responsibility for improving metrics and results
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to be self-directed
• Ability to maintain professionalism with both internal and external customers and coworkers
