Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Hospitality
- Greet guests warmly, present menus, and explain daily specials.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and relay them to the kitchen and bar efficiently.
- Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring the correct temperature and presentation.
- Engage with guests professionally, anticipating their needs and preferences and accommodating dietary restrictions.
- Provide recommendations on the menu items, including specialty cocktails and local cuisine.
- Ensure guests have all necessary items, such as napkins, utensils, and condiments.
- Respond promptly to guest inquiries and special requests.
- Accurately enter orders into the hotel’s Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Transport and deliver orders efficiently to maintain food and beverage quality.
- Check orders before delivery to ensure accuracy and presentation standards.
- Handle guest concerns or complaints professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Offer additional items, such as dessert or drink refills, to enhance the guest experience.
- Check back with guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction and handle any concerns promptly.
- Keep poolside tables, lounge areas, and cabanas clean and presentable.
- Remove empty dishes, glasses, and trash promptly.
- Ensure service stations are stocked with necessary supplies (utensils, straws, condiments).
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of pool deck, furniture, and surrounding areas.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down the poolside dining area as needed.
- Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and fellow servers to ensure smooth service.
- Assist food runners and bussers in delivering and clearing plates.
- Communicate with the hotel staff regarding guest requests and special accommodation.
- Support teammates during peak hours to maintain seamless operations.
- Present checks, process payments, and handle cash, credit card transactions, and hotel room charges.
- Ensure accurate billing and apply any applicable discounts or promotions.
- Handle split checks and gratuities according to hotel policies.
- Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation regulations, including proper handling of food, beverages, and allergens.
- Adhere to hotel’s dress code, grooming and uniform standards, and service protocols while maintaining a polished appearance and a positive, team- and guest-oriented attitude.
- Comply with company policies to include attendance, meal breaks, uniform standards, professionalism, and code of conduct.
- Uphold MacArthur Place’s luxury service and hospitality brand standards.
- Previous serving experience preferred, especially in a hotel, resort, or poolside setting.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull and lift/carry trays up to 40 lbs. for extended periods.
- Knowledge of cocktail service, food handling, and health safety regulations.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments, including exposure to sun and varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Upon hire, obtain and maintain Food Handler’s and Alcohol Service certifications as required by local laws.
- Standing and walking for long periods in an outdoor setting.
- Safely and efficiently carry trays and beverages from the kitchen to across poolside areas.
