Macdonald & Company is partnering with a privately held, family-owned business specializing in commercial real estate development, investment, and management, to appoint a Staff Accountant. This position, based in Pinehurst, NC, is key to managing the daily accounting functions for the company's portfolio of commercial real estate holdings.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in real estate and tax accounting and will be ready to work alongside a small team of accounting and administrative professionals. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a growing and successful commercial real estate firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Transactions:
- Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes and transactions through a robust system of controls.
- Oversee daily data entry for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, purchase orders, and invoice data entry.
- Maintain an orderly and efficient accounting filing system.
Business Accounting:
- Primarily responsible for daily accounting transactions across the portfolio of operating companies, properties, and leases, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
Reporting:
- Prepare initial financials for lender and tax compliance.
- Oversee cash flow management and reporting.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process and highlight any significant variances from the budget to the Director of Finance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience. Specific expertise in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required.
- Experience in the commercial real estate industry, especially in retail or office, is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Hands-on experience with Yardi software is required.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently while also being a team player, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
