Requirements
Construction Estimator: This is where you come in.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and driven Construction Estimator to join our team. The role of the Construction Estimator is to develop and apply business knowledge, understanding of General Contracting trade means and methods, and proficiency in the estimating process primarily focusing on retrofits in the existing built environment. The Construction Estimator role requires the expertise and skill to quantify, estimate and qualify all building systems and components to create detailed cost estimates for all building trade scopes.

1. Accurate & Complete Energy Retrofit Estimate Development
- Deliver comprehensive and accurate estimates that capture the full scope of energy retrofit and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Analyze building systems, energy data, and utility information to inform cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct on-site assessments to verify existing conditions and gather data critical to scoping and estimating energy performance measures.
2. Effective Collaboration & Strategic Communication
- Partner with Engineers, Project Developers, and Energy Analysts to integrate technical inputs into a unified and realistic project estimate.
- Maintain transparent and proactive communication with internal teams, customers, and external partners to align on project goals, expectations, and timelines.
- Present estimates with confidence, clearly articulating key drivers, assumptions, and value to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
3. Apply Business Acumen to Energy Solutions
- Understand client priorities, funding mechanisms (e.g., Energy Savings Performance Contracts), and energy conservation goals to tailor estimating strategies accordingly.
- Identify opportunities for bundling ECMs (Energy Conservation Measures) to maximize ROI and system efficiency.
- Support the pursuit of new business by contributing strategic insights and value-driven approaches to proposals.
4. Mastery of the Estimating Process & Energy Modeling Tools
- Utilize performance contracting tools, energy modeling software, and estimating platforms to drive precision and speed in your estimates.
- Ensure compliance with internal processes, incentive program requirements, and M&V (Measurement & Verification) protocols.
- Continuously refine estimating approaches based on post-project lessons learned and evolving industry best practices.
5. Strong Understanding of Building Systems & Energy Measures
- Deepen your knowledge of HVAC systems, lighting, controls, envelope upgrades, and other ECMs to improve the accuracy and reliability of estimates.
- Work with field personnel and trade partners to validate installability, costs, and timelines of proposed measures.
- Factor in operational risks, phasing, and system interdependencies when developing cost and savings projections.
6. “Tell the Story” Behind the Estimate
- Go beyond the numbers to communicate the full value of the project—energy savings, operational benefits, and environmental impact.
- Prepare clear and compelling estimate summaries that support customer decision-making and stakeholder buy-in.
- Use data and storytelling to paint a holistic picture of project feasibility, expected outcomes, and lifecycle value.
The Construction Estimator role reports directly to Amy Johnson, Estimating Manager, and is part of a collaborative team involved in diverse projects and initiatives that drive the growth of our business. This high-visibility position engages with various departments and stakeholders at all levels across the organization.

Benefits
Compensation: $78,000 to $100,000 Annually
