Position: General Operator (2nd Shift)
Position Summary: Perform a variety of job tasks in the production of wood components. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Set up and fully operate the machine to company standards and customer specifications.
This is a 2nd shift position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preform set-up, operate, and maintain machinery according to company and customer specifications
- A general understanding of the mechanics of the machine; being able troubleshoot and diagnose root cause issues
- Read a micrometer/caliper/fitting gauges/alignment/checking tolerances while operating moulder
- Perform housekeeping and basic maintenance and inspection of the machine. This includes daily and weekly required preventative maintenance checks done and documented.
- Communication with other departments is required
- Inform the tool room for all tooling issues and understanding of head placement
- Conscious of how to feed the boards into the moulder to get the best utilization and yield.
- Complete documentation as required for your machine
- Ability to learn and train others to the job requirements
- Maintain a safe work area clear from debris, clutter, and dust.
- Adhere to company policies and SOPs. Notify the supervisor/team lead of potential procedural improvements.
- Ensure quality of product according to company standards.
- Maintain an excellent attendance record.
- Must be safety conscious, have a positive attitude, and work well in a team environment
Language Standards:
- Must understand written and spoken English
- Must understand written and spoken Spanish
Minimum Requirements:
- High school education or equivalent preferred but not required
- 6 months in manufacturing environment preferred
- Basic understanding of measurements
- Manual/finger dexterity skills
- Ability to perform in a fast, labor-intensive environment with exposure to dust particles and loud machinery
- Ability to lift 25-40 pounds
- Ability to stand/walk 10 hours per shift breaks
- Capability of performing repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
