Position: Shipping Forklift Driver
Position Summary: The Shipping Lift Driver potion will unload, load, receive, and ship lumber and finished materials. They will also assure accurate inventory.
Position Duties and Responsibilities: This description represents the most significant job duties. Other work duties may be assigned as needed.
- More Lumber to the appropriate machines and to its end destination in its current state and update building code
- Be familiar with the daily in’s and outs’ of shipping
- Apply tags and deduct material off tags
- Perform pre-shift truck inspection, document, and turn into maintenance
- Load and unload trucks
- Pull lumber packs based on inventory for others
- Perform housekeeping and basic maintenance and inspection of the machine.
- This includes daily and weekly required preventative maintenance checks done and documented
- Communication with other departments is required
- Complete documentation as required for your machine
- Ability to learn and train others to the job requirements
- Adhere to company polices and SOP’s. Notify the supervisor/ team lead of potential procedural improvements
- Ensure quality of product according to company standards
- Maintain an excellent attendance record
- Must be safety conscious, have a positive attitude, and work well in a team environment
Minimum Requirements:
- Willingness to become certified by MacDonald & Owen to operate class 1, 4, and 5 lift trucks
- A general understanding of the mechanics of a lift truck to identify troubles with the equipment
- A valid driver’s license
- Able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. repeatedly throughout work shift
- Able to get in and out of lift numerous times throughout work shift
- High school education or equivalent preferred but not required
- 6 months in manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to work 8-10 hour shifts while sitting, walking and operating forklift
- Ability to perform in a fast, labor-intensive environment with exposure to dust particles and loud machinery
