Job Description:
The Construction Estimator will be responsible for coordinating the estimating process by preparing estimates and submitting proposals based on Client requirements and specifications.
Job Duties:
- Review Client request for proposals and analyze the scope of work, specifications, drawings, and other documentation in preparation of a detailed estimate.
· Develop and issue a Basis of Estimate document for Project Management approval.
· Read and interpret contract documents relating to the project
- Apply quantity take-off, conceptual, and unit price estimating methods.
- Apply work hour unit rates to generate the overall direct work hours.
- Identify construction equipment requirements and include in estimates
- Identify temporary facility and field staffing requirements.
- Assist in the solicitation of quotes from material and equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers. Analyze quotes for completeness and accuracy.
· Identify project specific general conditions of the location for weather and HSE requirements.
- Analyze project risks and apply appropriate contingency factors.
· Review with the Operations Group the final scope of work to ensure expectations of final product and timing are included in the estimate.
- Ensure that all bid forms are completed and properly executed.
- Compile and complete RFP deliverables to satisfy client requirements
- Facilitate review meetings with Project Manager and Leadership team to finalize the estimate and proposal.
Other Duties:
- Promote the use of standard estimating systems, procedures, and work methods
- Develop rates and time durations associated with tasks
- Carry out studies to assess productivity factors for working in various conditions
- Assess subcontractors for competency and productivity
- Develop and maintain a database of rates and costs incorporating actual historical information.
- Monitor actual costs against estimated costs to verify estimate assumptions
- Facilitate risk assessment workshops for project work to verify estimate provisions
- Review project execution plans to ensure alignment with the basis of estimate
- Work with Procurement to obtain external information for estimating purposes in the form of budget prices and vendor data and equipment and contractor services
- Prepare regular reporting information
Work Environment:
· Office environment with occasional travel
· May include visits to Client offices, facilities, and ROW
Job Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Office and estimating software
- Competitive bid experience in gas compression, processing facilities, and gathering and mainline pipeline installations.
- Construction field experience preferred.
- Advanced knowledge or estimating strategies and techniques.
- Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities.
- Strong sense of urgency as it relates to completing tasks on time and meeting deadlines.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
Education Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree or 5 years' experience in commercial construction, industrial civil, structural steel, process equipment and pipeline estimating.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
