Manufacturing Supervisor

Job Description

 

Reports To:    Manufacturing Manager

Department:  Manufacturing or Molding

Division:         Northern Division

Location:        Headquarters, Arlington or Cavendish Plant

 

Summary:  Coordinates and directs activities of workers engaged in molding or assembly of parts or assemblies into units by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

 

·         Coordinates, directs, evaluates and provides training and leadership to twenty or more hourly employees for the assembly and/or molding operations.

·         Develops daily schedules, ensures that quality and production goals are met, and troubleshoots problems as required.

·         Provides technical leadership for department, including recommending and implementing equipment, process and material enhancements.

·         Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements and workflow including design layouts for equipment and workspace.

·         Ensures all ISO procedures are followed, integrity of product to standard, process improvement recommendations: SPC, and other quality systems developed and maintained.

·         Ensures employees complete safety training, establishes safe work environment, and leads department safety team.

·         Maintains constructive working relationship with business units, customers, and internal departments including effective communication, coordination of WIP and process improvement.

·         Researches and makes recommendations on production and auxiliary equipment procurement, and identifies new technologies and expansion plans.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

Associates degree (A. A.) from an accredited college or university; plus one to two years related manufacturing experience and/or training.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software; Internet software; Order processing systems and Manufacturing software.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises twenty or more employees in the manufacturing department on one or more shifts. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
