Job Description :
Mackin Engineers & Consultants is seeking a qualified Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor 1 (TCIS-1) in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The TCIS-1 will be responsible for conducting roadway and bridge construction inspections, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, plans, specification, and cost estimates.
This position requires extensive travel, with up to 75% of time spent on-site at various construction locations.
Responsibilities :
- Perform thorough roadway and bridge construction inspections including grade elevations, stakeouts, asphalt or concrete work, drainage, signage, traffic control, and excavation.
- Coordinate construction inspection activities, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Perform calculations, interpret plans, measure quantities, review quality control plans, and generate reports.
- Review and interpret construction plans, drawings, and technical documents.
- Observe and conduct tests on aggregates, compaction, specific gravities, and more at plants or construction sites.
- Package material samples for shipping and document sampling and testing procedures.
- Operate nuclear guage and perform compaction control inspection on projects.
- Analyze rock and soil properties, including moisture, density, and elevation.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and government officials.
- Document and report construction activities, progress, and issues encountered during inspections.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures on construction sites.
- Assist in resolving construction-related disputes and issues as they arise.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to construction inspection team members.
- Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, client relations, and / or inter-departmental relations.
