Job Description:
Mackin Engineers & Consultants is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Manager – Civil Engineering Services for our Land Development Department in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex site civil engineering projects, a strong technical background in civil engineering, and exceptional leadership abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the civil engineering department, including overseeing project teams, resource allocation, and budget management.
- Provide strategic direction and guidance for civil engineering projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with subconsultants, clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to understand project requirements and objectives, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Lead the design and engineering process for civil site projects, including zoning review, site layout and grading, stormwater management and design, utility design, and permitting from conceptualization to completion.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, providing technical guidance, training, and support to foster professional growth and development.
- Ability to use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and scheduling software.
- Collaborate with other Mackin internal departments, such as Structural engineering, Traffic Engineering, Landscape Architecture, and Construction Management, to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in civil engineering, and incorporate them into project designs and methodologies.
- Participate and lead in business development activities, including proposal writing, client presentations, and networking events, to secure new projects and expand the company’s private client base.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Pennsylvania Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- West Virginia and Ohio Professional Engineer (PE) licenses are preferred but not required. The ability to obtain WV & OH PE’s will be required within six months of hire.
- 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on site development, utility coordination and permitting.
- Proven track record of successfully managing engineering teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong technical proficiency in civil engineering design software and tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
