Job Description:
Mackin Engineers & Consultants is seeking a seasoned Transportation Construction Inspector – 3 (TCI-3) in our Pittsburgh, PA office. This position requires extensive experience in the construction inspection field, particularly with roadway and bridge projects.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in monitoring various phases of construction activities, ensuring compliance with all project specifications, plans, and contract agreements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed inspections of infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, and associated structures, to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
- Document inspection findings and communicate necessary changes to construction crews and project managers to ensure timely and accurate project completion.
- Utilize and maintain proficiency with a variety of inspection tools and equipment to accurately measure materials and conditions.
- Manager and monitor contractor performance to ensure project deliverables are achieved within the defined scope, time, and cost constraints.
- Engage in continuous education and training to maintain and upgrade certification levels and professional knowledge.
- Travel to various project sites as required, managing responsibilities with up to 75% travel.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of construction inspection experience.
- High school diploma is mandatory; Associate’s (AS) or Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of Electronic Construction Management System (ECMS) and PennDOT.
- Familiarity with all PennDOT design and construction publications.
- Experience using Deltek Ajera. Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Desired Certificates include: EIT/FE, PE, NICET Highway Construction, NECEPT, PennDOT Concrete/ACI, CDS NextGen, KAHUA, SSPC-C3, NACE Coating Inspector (Level 1, 2, or 3), NASSCO (PACP, MACP, LACP, or ITCP), Nuclear Densometer (Nuke Gage).
