Job Description:
Mackin Engineers & Consultants is seeking an experienced Transportation Construction Inspector – 2 (TCI-2) in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The TCI-2 will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful completion of roadway and bridge construction projects, demonstrating expertise in construction inspection and a commitment to quality assurance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction inspection, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough and detailed roadway and bridge construction inspections, ensuring compliance with project specifications, plans, and contractual requirements.
- Supervise and mentor junior inspectors, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and efficient inspection processes.
- Review construction documents, including plans, specifications, and contracts, to ensure thorough understanding of project requirements.
- Monitor contractor activities and progress, identifying and deviations or discrepancies and taking appropriate corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to address construction challenges and ensure project success.
- Perform quality control checks on materials and workmanship, ensuring adherence to industry standards and specifications.
- Document inspection findings, including deficiencies, non-compliance issues, and corrective actions, in detailed and accurate reports.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, project team members, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Assist in the preparation of progress reports, change orders, and other project documentation as required.
- Participate in meetings, site visits, and project discussions to provide technical expertise and support project coordination efforts.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction inspection field, with demonstrated expertise in roadway and bridge inspection.
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or related field preferred, but not required.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques, with a focus on quality assurance and compliance.
- Excellent understanding of construction contracts, plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor junior inspectors, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Deltek Ajera, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Familiarity with using Computers, Printers, and Electronics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
