Summary of Position
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the hands-on oversight of a maintenance team that safely and efficiently supports a 24 / 7 manufacturing environment. The Maintenance and Reliability Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, scheduling, assigning, and overseeing day-to-day maintenance work, performing a variety of responsible duties related to the supervision of maintenance activities, as well as training, supervising, and evaluating the work of employees. This is a highly collaborative position and requires strong organizational, planning, follow-up, and communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to identify, modify, adjust, and repair mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic parts and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or diagrams including blueprints, schematics, and mechanical renditions.
- Ability to utilize a variety of power tools, hand tools, gauging, and measuring equipment safely and correctly.
- Thorough understanding and demonstrated ability to improve equipment reliability to minimize downtime, improve efficiencies, and produce a high-quality product to specification in a safe and efficient manner.
- Participate in purchasing maintenance materials and outside technical services in accordance with established company protocols and procedures.
- Assist in the establishment and implementation of a systematic preventative maintenance program with the Maintenance and Reliability Manager.
- Investigate equipment failures and unexpected breakdowns. Provide corrective actions to improve reliability and performance.
- Monitor parts requests to ensure adequate inventory and cost efficiencies are being met according to departmental budget.
- Lead Maintenance CI (continuous improvement) tasks reporting back to management with status updates.
- Facilitate selection of appropriate resources (contractors, suppliers, etc.) to minimize costs and ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
- Ensure, enforce, and adhere to all legislative requirements.
- Constantly enhance the motivation and team spirit of all operation staff.
- Minimize the risk of accidents and pollution.
