Position Summary
As the Volunteer Coordinator you will oversee all aspects of the volunteer program including recruitment, orientation, scheduling and retention. You will assist the Executive Director and Operations Manager in coordinating volunteers for specific projects. The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the point of contact for volunteers and ensures that all departments and programs are able to meet their volunteer needs.

- Maintain a pleasant, professional demeanor and attitude with customers, co-workers, volunteers, and donors.
- Research and implement volunteer recruitment and retention strategies.
- Work well under pressure and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Actively recruit volunteers through social media, website, print media, public speaking, etc.
- Respond to inquiries regarding the volunteer program.
- Grow and implement new volunteer programs to support and/or reduce the work of staff.
- Review and process volunteer applications.
- Prepare, schedule and preform volunteer orientations and trainings.
- Update animal information and relay information to volunteers.
- Manage the volunteer database using the volunteer software.
- Act as the point of contact for communication between staff and volunteers, relaying all information needed between both groups.
- Use critical thinking skills and creativity to problem-solve.
- Work independently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Driver’s License and reliable transportation/insurance.
- Public speaking, training and event planning experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent team building, supervising and leading skills.
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively with the general public, staff, and volunteers.
- Highly organized, resourceful, proactive and flexible with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Availability for day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled.
- Support the mission of the Animal Foundation of Great Falls and professionally advocate the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center's position on animal issues.
- Treat animals humanely both on and off the job, and transmit these values to others.
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift heavy weight in excess of 50 lbs.
- This position requires walking while conducting tours as well as the ability to handle large/strong dogs.
The wage for this is DOE.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Weekends as needed
Work Location: In person
