We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to perform excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation work for various projects. The ideal candidate has experience operating excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of earthmoving techniques, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:Equipment Operation & Job Site Work:
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, and rollers for excavation and paving projects.
- Perform site preparation, including grading, trenching, backfilling, and material movement.
- Load and unload materials, ensuring proper handling and placement.
- Follow grade stakes, blueprints, and project specifications to complete work accurately.
- Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Communicate with ground crew and foremen to ensure efficiency and safety on job sites.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and report any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
- Use proper PPE and follow safety procedures when operating equipment.
- Be aware of underground utilities and other site hazards before and during excavation.
Teamwork & Job Performance:
- Work closely with site supervisors, laborers, and other operators to complete projects efficiently.
- Adapt to different job site conditions and tasks as needed.
- Maintain a high level of productivity while ensuring precision and quality in all work performed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years operating heavy equipment in excavation, grading, or paving.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
- Technical Skills: Ability to operate and maintain various heavy equipment types.
- Safety Knowledge: Understanding of OSHA safety standards and best practices for excavation and earthwork.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to read site plans, grade stakes, and elevations accurately.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in all weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and work extended hours if necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with GPS machine control and laser grading technology.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Familiarity with underground utility installation.
