We are seeking an experienced Paving Foreman to lead our paving crew in executing high-quality asphalt and concrete paving projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in road construction, site preparation, and asphalt paving operations, with the ability to manage teams effectively, ensure safety compliance, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Crew Management:
- Supervise, train, and coordinate a team of paving crew members, including operators, laborers, and truck drivers.
- Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and oversee crew performance to maintain high-quality workmanship.
- Motivate and foster a positive team environment, ensuring clear communication and productivity.
- Work closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to align on project goals and deadlines.
Project Execution & Operations:
- Ensure proper site preparation, including grading, base installation, and compaction, before paving begins.
- Oversee all aspects of paving operations, including asphalt placement, rolling, compaction, and finishing.
- Monitor equipment usage, maintenance, and ensure proper functioning of paving machinery.
- Coordinate with trucking to ensure a steady flow of asphalt material to job sites.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, thickness, smoothness, and proper drainage.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Conduct pre-shift safety meetings and ensure proper use of PPE by all crew members.
- Identify and mitigate potential job site hazards to prevent injuries and accidents.
Quality Control & Documentation:
- Perform quality checks throughout the paving process to meet job specifications and customer expectations.
- Document daily job activities, including material usage, crew hours, equipment usage, and weather conditions.
- Communicate any project challenges, delays, or changes to the Superintendent or Project Manager.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in asphalt paving, road construction, or a related field.
- Leadership: Previous experience in a supervisory or foreman role managing a paving crew.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of asphalt paving techniques, materials, and best practices.
- Equipment Proficiency: Familiarity with paving machines, rollers, graders, and other heavy equipment.
- Safety Focus: Knowledge of OSHA and DOT safety regulations related to paving and excavation.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot on-site issues and adjust work plans as needed.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with teams and management.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and work extended hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CDL License or ability to obtain one.
- Certification in OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or related safety training.
- Experience in grading and site preparation before paving.
