- The ABM will have extensive knowledge of Theater Air Control System (TACS)/Army Air-Ground System (AAGS) at the JTF, Corps and Division levels and airspace command and control networks and capabilities. The ABM will apply the unique capabilities of the Air Component into the US Army Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) series of Warfighter Exercises.
- The ABM will understand, integrate, coordinate, and represent Air Force airspace command, control and integration capabilities of the Air Component during the year-long planning/execution cycles for 5 major multi-echelon (JTF, Corps, Division level) joint complex worldwide events each year.
- Coordinate processes, products, programs, and people in support of ongoing MCTP events.
- Integrate functional specialties represented in the AOC, JACCE, JAGIC, TACP, CRC, AWACS, and JSTARS.
- Write and integrate Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) story lines and coordinate joint air ground integration networks on web-based knowledge management tools.
- The ABM will be an Airpower Integration subject matter expert (SME) and facilitate high fidelity air ground integration supporting ongoing Joint Training Transformation Initiatives, Joint National Training Capabilities, Army MCTP exercises and events.
- The ABM expert will fully understand exercise planning functions, speak to the systems work in the MCTP training environment.
- Work with senior Army and Air Force leaders, exercise directors, exercise planners from all echelons, exercise controllers and Soldiers and Airmen from the assigned training audience to coordinate for and provide effective air plans, execution and control for all counter-land operations.
- The ABM will be proficient with the AOC TBMCS and exercise planning tools currently being used in the operational environment.
- The ABM will be required to attend conferences to represent Det 1 and Air Component/AOC replication and to coordinate on exercise construct issues with joint MCTP exercise planners.
- During the planning process the ABM will work with exercise planners for realistic and accurate presentation and integration of airspace integration and effects contributing to the scenario if necessary.
- Review Operation Order Annexes as required by MCTP and provide changes/inputs if necessary.
- Contribute to storylines and events when required to fully exercise training objectives to be evaluated.
- Other planning tasks include attending Initial, Mid, and Final Exercise Planning (IEP, MEP,FEP) conferences, when needed and other key meetings to advise and coordinate scenario development and operational/ tactical airspace integration issues with MCTP and 505 CTS exercise planners.
- Advise, communicate and coordinate with AOC and 505 CTS to update air component products, as needed to integrate airspace effects and doctrinally correct procedures; articulate all aspects of airspace support through products and processes available to GOs, HQEs and senior leadership, including JFC’s responsibility for the Airspace Control Authority (ACA); provide inputs and answers related to the ACA’s support role; provide airspace inputs to senior leaders in HICOM and JFC staffs to enhance capabilities of aligned joint and coalition airspace integration requirements; interface and inform air component-related Joint Boards, including the Joint Targeting Coordination Board (JTCB) when airspace constraints and effects could be beneficial or detrimental to operations.
- 6 years of ABM experience is required with 3 years of AOC, CRC, AWACS, JSTARS experience.
- ASOG ASOS experience as operations, planner, instructor, mentor while assigned to an AOC, ASOG, ASOS is preferred.
- 1 year as AWACS/JSTARS, CRC Senior Controller required.
- 3 years ABM experience in AOC, ASOC/JAGIC, or TACP as operations or plans officer; with Air Force TBMCS and Army Mission Command Systems.
- Participation in two or more AOC/ASOC/TACP Joint exercises as plans or operations officer or as ASOC/JAGIC/TACP representative.

Knowledge
- In-depth, understanding of current Theater Airspace Management doctrine and capabilities, the AOC, ASOG, ASOS planning, operations, and TTPs. Understanding the duties and functions of the current Operations and Combat Plans Division in theater warfare. Familiarity with the capabilities and functions of all AOC divisions and where the ABM integrates with each.
- In-depth knowledge of current ABM capabilities and tactics, techniques and procedures relating to joint planning processes, component-level planning processes, development of the Air Operations Directive (AOD), coordination or airspace command and control, kinetic/non-kinetic effects, operational assessment processes, and how these are used to support real-world operations in the AOC, ASOC/JAGIC, and TACP.
- In-depth knowledge of ABM, AOC, ASOC, TACP operations and planning tools and models for use in providing Commander’s guidance and intent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools in the development of Air Component products (ATO, MAAP, SPINS, ROE, COA briefs, ops assessments).
- Knowledge of Joint exercise construct ie., Live, Virtual, and Constructive.
- Knowledge of Air Battle Management MSELS and after-action-review assessment processes.
