Research & Development Specialist

Armoured One located in Syracuse, NY is recruiting for a full time Research and Development Specialist to join our team!

The Research and Development specialist is responsible for support of the development of new and improved products, managing a clean laboratory environment, film and glass quality and control. Be a part of a growing team whose aim is to innovate, develop, and fabricate security glass products with unsurpassed quality and durability for the architectural and commercial market. Among the technologies we are exploring are active shooter/ballistic glass and window film applications that are meant to keep people safe from attackers. Technology developed and implemented from this team has the potential to save lives across America.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, testing, and evaluation of new/improved glass and film products.
• Work with partner companies coordinating joint-development efforts
• Collaborate quality improvements in all our operations, including quality assurance auditing.
• Provide technical support to the glass fabrication team.
• Provide technical support to the field installation team.
• Travel on an occasional basis to a partner company or an industry related conference.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• BS in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics preferred.
• No prior experience is necessary.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills to build relationships and effectively communicate with team members company wide. Ability to communicate complicated concepts and draft technical reports
• Demonstrated ability in taking ownership and initiative of responsibilities.
• Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, including communication, networking, relationship-building, negotiation, and building influence.
• Commitment to safety and an orderly and safe workplace.
• Time management skills with the ability to plan and track multiple projects over months.
• Ability to complete and develop hands-on testing.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables and implement solutions to correct.
