Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Splicer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fiber splicing and a strong understanding of IT infrastructure. This role involves working with various networking systems, including Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN), to ensure seamless connectivity for our clients. The Splicer will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables while adhering to safety protocols.
Duties
- Perform fiber splicing tasks, ensuring high-quality connections and minimal signal loss.
- Utilize tools such as voltmeters and schematics to troubleshoot and repair network issues.
- Climb utility poles or use bucket trucks to access overhead wiring as needed.
- Build and maintain IT infrastructure by installing networking equipment and ensuring proper configuration.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
- Document all work performed, including splicing records and network diagrams.
- Adhere to safety regulations while working in various environments, including outdoor settings.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fiber splicing is preferred.
- Familiarity with computer networking concepts, including LAN and WAN technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics related to networking systems.
- Experience using voltmeters for testing electrical connections is a plus.
- Must be comfortable climbing heights and operating bucket trucks safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
