Sr. PCB Layout Designer

Job Description :

In MACOM's MMIC Business Unit we design MMICs and IMAs for cellular, aerospace & defense, and other wireless applications. We are looking for an experienced RF / MMW IMA Mechanical Engineer with experience designing packaging for MMICs, waveguide components, power supplies, support PCBs, and test systems for RF & Millimeter Wave multi-chip modules.

Responsibilities : Be responsible for schematic entry, layout, test, and release of printed circuit boards to support a variety of RF, Microwave, and Millimeter-Wave products.2D and 3D modeling of printed circuit boards using Altium and AutoCADCreate professional schematics fully linked and synchronized to BOM's and physical layouts from rudimentary communications with engineers.With support of other engineering disciplines, design and document cost effective circuit boards, laminate packages, and assemblies to support product development.Work with our MMIC design, mechanical design, electromagnetic design, analog / digital design, assembly, and test teams to develop new products and define substrate stackups as well as production methods.Work with our Business Development team on bid & proposal activity.Initiate prototype builds and manage product characterization. You will design evaluation hardware and characterization fixtures, then direct or perform measurements.Generating manufacturing drawings and documentation.Update design rules as required.Lead peer review of design concepts.Participate as functional lead in external design reviews.Cooperating with Project Manager in order to maintain an up-to-date project plan and schedule.Work with our Product Engineering group to transfer the product to production.Keeping up to date, maintaining passion, and an unwavering thirst for knowledge about the latest circuit board technologies.Customer support as required.Advocate for PCB Design as a function and technology area within the companyCoaching and mentoring of more junior members of the design team.

Qualifications :

5 years of experience designing circuit boards for RF, Microwave, or Millimeter-Wave applications.10 years of experience of printed circuit board design and layout with an enterprise grade tool such as Altium, PADS, Allegro, Autodesk EAGLE, etc. (Altium preferred)10 years of 2D drafting and creation of manufacturing drawingsProficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance per ANSI Y14.5Bona fide PCB enthusiastFamiliarity with RF / MMW IMA design techniques.Familiarity with PCB design tools and data files.Familiarity with 2D and 3D data file import and exportFamiliarity with PDM (Product Data Management) systems.Hands-on troubleshooting experience.Good communication, organization and documentation skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build long lasting partnerships. Ability to work in fast-paced environmentFluent in spoken and written English.Due to ITAR regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident (US Green Card holder)
