Hardware Engineer 1
Job Description:
The Hardware Engineer 1 will design, develop, and document interconnect solutions for internal hardware needs as well as for customer hardware reference designs; will identify techniques and methodologies for modeling and measurement of devices and systems; and will actively participate in the evaluations of these. The Hardware Engineer I drives feasibility analyses at onset of PCB (printed circuit board) definition phase; evaluates and specifies electrical characteristics and performance of the PCB to determine compliance to appropriate regulating standards; and takes cradle-to-grave ownership of PCB through hand-off to validation and application engineering for the production launch. This encompasses efforts to find limits of product performance as well as debugging.

Hardware Engineer 1
Job Description:
The Hardware Engineer 1 will design, develop, and document interconnect solutions for internal hardware needs as well as for customer hardware reference designs; will identify techniques and methodologies for modeling and measurement of devices and systems; and will actively participate in the evaluations of these. The Hardware Engineer I drives feasibility analyses at onset of PCB (printed circuit board) definition phase; evaluates and specifies electrical characteristics and performance of the PCB to determine compliance to appropriate regulating standards; and takes cradle-to-grave ownership of PCB through hand-off to validation and application engineering for the production launch. This encompasses efforts to find limits of product performance as well as debugging.
The key responsibilities will include:
- Collect inputs from users of the PCB, including but not limited to, validation engineer, product engineer, IC design engineer, SI Engineer etc.;
- Draft a BRD (Board Required Document) / Block Diagram to clearly define what is expected of the board & review it.
- Consult with designers, application engineers for component selection and circuit around the device under test;
- Design certain circuits, e.g. Power management circuit, I2C/SPI control circuit, current mirrors and filters in critical data paths.
- Capture schematic using CAD tool such as xDxDesigner.
- CAD Library maintenance support and Bill of Material Generation (BOM).
- Layout the board using PADS with high speed trace routing for Optical frequencies.
- Documentation for PCB fabrication and work with PCB vendors to resolve issues during manufacturing.
- Prepare Bonding Diagram for High speed Optical interface and Chip on Board devices.
- Create high speed board design rules for automation and to speed up the Layout design time and effort.
- Verification of power circuit, low speed communication and interconnections between microcontroller and peripherals.
- Debug if certain feature does not work and contribute in board bring up.
- BSEE with some experience/knowledge in schematic capture, PCB Design and layout using Mentor Tools (xDxDesigner, PADS, Hyper Lynx)
- Able to work independently and as a team player.
- Experience with CAD Library creation/maintenance is a plus.
- Knowledge on Board Design for manufacturing (DFM), PCB Fab Process is a plus.
- Knowledge on firmware development in C for ARM controllers is a plus.

Salary : $59,500 - $96,000
