Salary Range : $15.31 - $19.68. Maximum salary upon new hire is $15.31.
Working Hours and / or Working Conditions : To be scheduled by the department as needed, but not to exceed 25 hours per week. Macomb can usually work around the intern's class schedule. Days and hours may vary and may include evenings and / or weekends. Work at all campus locations may be required with little or no prior notice; reliable transportation is a necessity. Internships are approved on a semester by semester basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Must have the ability to perform the responsibilities above with confidence, competency and consistency. Demonstrate good problem solving skills, including the ability to think logically. Must have the ability to work patiently, professionally, and communicate effectively with all college staff and faculty. Must be able to coordinate and complete assigned tasks with little supervision. Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel.
Supervision : SUPERVISION RECEIVED : Reports to the Manager of Information Systems. SUPERVISION GIVEN : None.
Job Function
Assist Information Technology full-time staff with day to day IT operations. Develop the intern's technical skills, business acumen and leadership skills while acquiring practical work experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist full-time Information Technology staff with day to day operations of the IT Department. IT Department areas include the service desk, desktop support, audio / visual, business applications, network and infrastructure.
- Assist in troubleshooting technology issues and providing IT solutions.
- Participate on technology teams, collaborating with multiple IT functions and end user departments.
- Politely and professionally provide user assistance to technology related problems.
- Update technical and functional documentation as well as the IT ticketing system.
- Develop test plans and test and document system results.
- Meet periodically with the Internship Coordinator in Career Services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
EDUCATION : Have an overall college GPA of 2.5 or higher, with students completing IT course(s) preferred.

Students participating in the Information Technology internship are required to register their experience and register for Career Experience CRER 2100 (part time internships) or CRER 2200 (full time internships).
