Job Function
Set up and calibrate instruments, equipment or testing apparatus; prepare reagents for laboratory experiments (chemistry, primarily; physics, and/or geology) following the direction of the lab supervisor.
Job Responsibilities
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare reagents, chemical solutions, supplies, etc. for lab experiments.
- Clean laboratories and chemical preparation areas.
- Clean and maintain glassware, equipment, instruments and supplies.
- General maintenance and organization of the laboratories.
- Assist with inventory control of chemicals, equipment and supplies for Chemistry, Physics and Geology.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Move, unpack and organize new laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Check out additional supplies to students as needed during laboratory experiments.
- Standardize Volumetric Solutions using Titrimetry.
- Use analytical balances, spectrophotometers, pH meters, volumetric glassware, etc.
- Understand Molarity and percent calculations for solutions preparation.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Education
Must have successfully completed at least one semester of college level Chemistry. Coursework in Physics, Geology or Natural Science desirable. Must have good general mathematics and reading abilities.
Qualifications
No experience required; will provide necessary training.
